Insurance
The provision of a medical service is expensive; look at what the NHS costs to run.
There are many costs involved such as highly qualified staff, medicines, modern equipment and the building. Veterinary fees are not exempt from VAT.
It is important to be sure that you can afford up to date veterinary treatment for your pet.
Pet insurance is a way to help you with unexpected veterinary fees.
Insurance does not cover expenses such as vaccinations and neutering.
An excess always applies on every claim.
There are many insurance companies that offer pet insurance. There are different policies available and so it is important to understand what you are buying.
Some people use self insurance ie they save regularly into a separate account for their pet.
Different Policies
There are three types of policy.
- One year. This means that the insurance company will only pay for each condition for one year
- “Pot ”. This means that a financial limit is set for payment on each individual condition.
- Life time . This means that the insurance company will pay for each condition for life.
Please remember that the insurance premiums are bigger with life time policies.
We are unable to recommend any particular insurance company.
