Tiggi’s story
To say that Tiggi is an energetic dog would be an understatement, so when she came into the surgery looking quite sorry for herself having been sent from another vet for an ultrasound scan, vet Rai was concerned. Tiggi had been playing at home, and her owners thought that she might have swallowed her toy ball.
X-rays taken at her original surgery had proved inconclusive and so an ultrasound scan was needed to see if there was anything in this little lady’s stomach that shouldn't be!
The digital x-rays and ultrasound scan which were taken here showed up something very round, very big, and very unlikely to make “ its own way out”! Tiggi definitely had a ball in her stomach!
The only way to remove it was to perform an enterectomy, that is the stomach is opened into and the offending foreign body is removed.
Vet Rai performed the surgery the same day and Tiggi made a fantastic recovery. She stayed in on fluids for observation, and the nurses were very careful what she had to eat and drink, but we are pleased to report that she’s made a full recovery and has gone back to her normal self! , hopefully she’ll be a little more careful with her toys from now on!!!
