At Sandhole we know how difficult it can be to lose a beloved family pet. This section of the website is available to any of our clients who would like to leave a few words about their animals perhaps with a small photograph as a tribute. We would like this page to act as an online rememberance book
If you would like your pet to be included on this page then please send an email with your chosen words and a photograph to nurse@sandhole.com.
We will endeavour to update this page regularly but please allow 28 days for any tribute to be posted online.
Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

Tributes
In memory of our wonderful dog and friend, Mister, who died on January 23rd 2012. We met him in Northern Cyprus in 2001.
He was a little skinnypuppy who lived under the hotel hedge and we ended up taking him everywhere with us.
At the end of our holiday we brought him back through quarantine and we used to joke that he was the most expensive mongrel in town. After the 6 months we took him home and he settled in straight away.
When he was young he was a little rascal and we could never leave any food unattended. He would also try his hardest to eat any shoes that were lying around and feeding the wild birds would be a battle to get see who got the bread first.( A reminder perhaps of the days when he was a stray)
On Monday, he just wouldn’t get up from his bed for his early morning walk ( he had been ill for some time and last year the Sandhole vets pulled him back from certain death) and the look in his eyes told us that he was ready to go. the vets came out to us, for which we are eternally grateful)
and it was very strange but he got up , walked around the garden and then lay down again, almost as if he was saying goodbye. we stroked his head as he left us and it was a very calm though sad experience.
Over the years he has given us total, unconditional love and in return he has been a much loved member of our family. he was a gentle dog with a heart of gold and a wonderful personality. We shall miss him every single day.

17 years ago I met a 2 week old blue merle border collie pup who crawled onto my boot and wee’d on it. That was my introduction to Dance, and that was how he chose me.
Since then, we have been up numerous mountains together, walked a long way, camped together, and done all those activities expected of dogs. Only Dance
was different. He hated obedience classes and was more interested in leaping on the dog next door for a good scrap; he got bored of agility [indoor and
out] and hated being in a show ring. But show him sheep and he came alive.
He was an amazing sheep dog, and his blue eyes could move the hardest ram with the ease of a true pro.
He hated other dogs [except his personal harem] but adored people, and children-the smaller the better. But Dances greatest attribute was courage. I always knew he was a loyal and devoted friend, but the last year and a half have shown me what a truly amazing dog Dance was.
He was diagnosed with cancer at 15yrs, and survived major surgery, chemo and radiotherapy against everyones expectations. The last year has been one of many vets visits, but Dance has remained calm, and unconcerned by it all, and has stayed the playful pup he’s always been.
Then, last weekend, he came to me, rested his head on my knee and gave me that look which said, ‘I’m ill again, and I’m ready for rainbow bridge’.
Monday 12/12/11 we said ‘adieu’ to each other. The day after we parted, at exactly the time we left home together for the last time [08.10] there was a lovely rainbow in the sky, and I’m sure Dance was telling me he’ll be waiting for me when the time is right to lead me across rainbow bridge.
I have always had dogs, and I’m sure there will be others in the future, but for me Dance was that ‘special one’ who could read my mind and mood, and
whose heart was entwined with mine, and I will always love him.

Hi my name was Raf,
I was a black and white sheltie Guinea pig and as you can see from my photo I was very spoilt by my Mummy's. I had 29 brother and sister Piggies and 2 rabbits, oh they were so annoying and not as intelligent as me and a Hamster.
Sadly I hadn't been very well for a couple of years, but that never stopped me enjoying life, especially cuddles and love where I chortled so loudly.
One day Mummy said to me I was going to see someone new, Auntie Kate, so I got myself ready and went for a very long ride in the car, that's a big thing with wheels. Auntie Kate said I had teeth problems and I needed a little operation. I was scared but everyone seemed very nice at the place the humans call the 'vets' and Mummy seemed relaxed about leaving me, she can be extra about us all sometimes!
Well after my operation I was so much better!
Sadly I had a lot of medicine and aches and pains over my four and a half years and I was invited by my angel brothers and sisters to play with them in heaven. I know my Mummy's are terribly sad but I had a fantastic life and was very grateful to Auntie Kate and Auntie Isabella who really mad things much better for me.
Now I have no pain and loving seeing my angel family again, I miss my Mummy's very much but will always be in their hearts.
Thank you all much for helping me at Sandhole I really liked being your pal and please look after my earth brothers and sisters as I know my Mummy's don't want to lose anymore as they get sad.
Lots of love
Raf

In memory of Little Sam, our courageous "fur baby" who passed away on 13.05.2010 aged 15.
Little Sam was very ill and had been under the care of Sandhole for the past year with various issues, including diabetes, which he bravely fought. The time was right for him to go to Rainbow Gate and be at peace.
We know he looks down on us and is with us at all times. He will be dearly missed and we promise to remember him forever... His name and spirit will live on in our Baby Son, Harry SAM, who only knew Sam for a short time. God Bless Little Sam x

In memory of my beautiful Phoebe who sadly passed away 30/08/10.
Phoebe was a funny character, such an individual who liked to talk in her cat language
but we understood each other. Someone once told me that cats are like little
people with fur coats. How true! She always put a smile in my face.. I will
miss you Phoebs and willl cherish all the wonderful times we had together.
You will be in my heart and thoughts forever. Bless you XXX

Love you forever.

We sadly lost our beautiful Poppy on the 18th April 2011.She became unwell and a week later we had to have her put to sleep (suspected tumor) She was only 7yrs old and so full of life and bounce it was so tragic to see our beloved pet change so dramatically and in such a short space of time . Her feline sisters miss her so much especially Chloe whom she used to play with and it's so sad to see her looking for her.
Darling Poppy we love and miss you so very, very much you will always be our little princess and we will never, ever forget you. God bless our darling Poppy.
Lots of love and hugs from mummy Julie, daddy Martin, Tiddles,Tilly,Trixie and Chloe xxxxxxxxxxxx
Our dear delicate little Molly
We wanted to adopt and give an older cat a stable home for whatever time they had left, so in 2007 we adopted you, our wee Molly from Battersea.
Even though you were 14 years old, to us you were a sweet little girl and we were inseperable from the beginning.
I'm sorry you spent so much of your life at the vet - with hyperthyroid, then diabetes .... and finally the liver tumour and the arthritis, but we wouldn't ever give up on you as we knew you enjoyed your life with us,though towards then end we could see you were struggling and we that soon we would have to say goodbye.
We finally had to release you on 10th August 2011 - and right now we just miss you and it hurts. But I know you are now free of that crippled body and one day we will be reunited.
We love you, we miss you - we will never forget our precious little molly - be at peace little angel, we feel richer people for having shared your life.

In memory of my best friend Ziggy who passed away on Friday 17th October
2011. He was the nicest , friendliest dog that anyone could ever ask for but
he was also a very unlucky little boy.
His name and his gentle spirit will
live on forever in our hearts.
Rest in Peace little man xxxxxxxxxxxx

I just wanted to contact you to say thank you to everyone there for everything you did for Cadbury and for us.
Losing Cadbury has been a real knock for us as he was such a big part of our lives.
He was the most loving cat we've ever known and was the oldest of our 5 cats, one of which, Wispa, we sadly lost 18 months ago but they've all always adored him, even if they didn't always tolerate each other too well.
We are now left with 3 cats, Caramel, Marble & Bassett, all of whom are clearly missing him as much as we are. I've attached a few photos of him in his healthier days that I thought you might like to see as everyone I spoke to there seemed to be quite fond of him, although I'm sure that's the case with most animals you treat there but we can't help but feel there was something quite special and unique about Cadbury.
